It’s been awhile since I last posted! UPDATE: I am officially a Marketing intern for Busch Gardens and Social Media intern for Sol Studio in Tampa, FL! I am so grateful for these opportunities and I can’t wait to share the things I learn from them!
So far, I have been doing a lot of research on Social Media Marketing (aka- Instagram). I have come across several ways to increase engagement and connect with other people using Instagram who have like interests! Here are a few rules I have come up with to increase engagement on Instagram:
Rule #1: Like and Comment
For example: I am a blogger, therefore I follow and comment on other #TampaBayBlogger Instagram accounts! I like to set aside 30 minutes a day to engage with other people who share my interests, or even check out accounts on the explore page! It’s amazing who you can meet/ what you can discover in 30 short minutes!
Rule #2: Meet Your Followers
Oftentimes, after liking and commenting on other bloggers’ posts, they will send you a DM to learn more about you. I always like suggesting that we meet in person especially if they are local!! I got to meet serveral local Tampa Bay bloggers and have even met them for coffee to discuss their blogging and social media strategies. This is my favorite way to build a strong Insta following.
Rule #3: Post Content Consistently
I don’t follow this rule 100% of the time, but I have recently come across a Social Media Planner called Later.com that plans all of my pictures, captions, and hashtags at the time and day that I want it to post. BUT, your content can also come from your stories! I recently found out that people who use hashtags in their story are more likely to gain followers! Don’t forget to add the location too!!
Rule #4: Write an Interesting Caption
Your followers are following you because they like the content you produce. Continue to produce good content with captivating captions!! This means telling a story and ending with a question or “tag a friend if…”
For example, on one of my Instagram posts, I talked about how it was almost Spring Break and I was so excited for my upcoming travels! I ended the caption with, ” Guess who’s excited for a new adventure?!” This resulted in more engagement which the Instagram algorithm favors.
Rule #5: Stick to 1-2 Presets or Filters
I personally really like the C1 filter on VSCO, but I never use it fully. I usually keep it from 5-6 and play around with the contrast and saturation depending on how the photo looks!
